Well Drilling & Repair in Laurens, SC
A lot of Laurens County wells were drilled a long time ago. That is where most of our work here starts.

The Wells Around Laurens Are Old. Some Are Fine. Some Are Not.
Laurens is an old county seat surrounded by a lot of long-established rural property, and the wells reflect that. A substantial share of the ones we are called to were drilled decades ago, and they were built to the standards of their day. Those standards have moved β particularly around how deep the steel casing is set and how thoroughly the annular space around it is grouted.
That distinction is not academic. Casing and grout are what stop surface water running straight down the outside of the borehole and into the aquifer without ever passing through soil that would filter it. A well that is cased short is the well that tests clean in a dry month and comes back positive for bacteria after a week of rain. If that pattern sounds familiar, the problem is almost certainly construction rather than the groundwater.
The good news is that not every old well needs replacing. Plenty of them were built well and simply need a pump, or a pressure tank, or the sanitary seal at the top putting right. We would rather inspect and tell you it is repairable than sell you a new borehole you did not need. When replacement genuinely is the right answer we will explain why, in terms you can check.
For new work, Laurens County drills as standard Piedmont bedrock β granite and gneiss, fracture-fed, generally 250 to 450 feet. Hard water is the routine complaint, and it comes straight out of the weathering rock. Our notes on hard water in South Carolina cover what it actually does to a household.

What to Expect When You Drill in Laurens
New wells here drill like the rest of the Piedmont. On existing wells, the age and construction of the borehole usually matter more than the aquifer.
